Be in the room

Our Story

Be in The Room was born following a series of event-related frustrations and a subsequent fruitless search for a solution.

Frustration #1

There are some cool insights flying around on Twitter via a hash-tag, you want to know what the event is. You Google It... and often get nothing. You tweet out into the abyss and ask what the #randomevent is, you might get a response.. you might not.

Frustration #2

You are a web worker going to New York for three weeks and want to know a few months in advance what events are on that you can get along to when you are in the city. We've had no luck finding a service that can offer this yet. They are usually incomplete or only published a week in advance.

Frustration #3

You get to an event. If you are a person that likes to enjoy the online experience while you are there you'll have many different channels and services competing for your attention. Twitter, Foursquare, Liveblogging. It's hard to know what's out there and then to keep on try and stay top of everything across multiple tabs and windows.

Frustration #4

You want to be at an event very badly. But you have a job, no funds, or you're on the other side of the world. It can be really hard to find the links to the livestream, who's live blogging, and mentioned above what the event is all about.

Frustration #5

You are running an event and want to know who are experts in the area, where they have spoken before, feedback from the community and know how to easily get in touch with them. This can be very difficult and time-consuming.

The Solution: Be In The Room

Be In The Room (BITR) can resolve all these frustrations. If you are in the online industries you can jump on to BITR, enter the hashtag and find all the event information you need. You can find out exactly where, when and what online industry events are on. You can list events and promote them through your social networks.

We will continually develop the BITR service to give those who are at the event and those that can't be there the best virtual experience possible. BITR provides full information about events and curates online services that make being in the room possible from the other side of the country or the world.

Through our Speaker Marketplace you can quickly identity industry leaders by topic and secure them as presenters to make your event a success. But... we need the community's help!

We promise that event attendees, our "roomers," will never have to pay for BITR, but we do need your help in maximizing the usefulness of the service to the web community. How? We want to make sure we have all the awesome events going on in the industry covered.

Once you hear about an event, jump onto BITR and add it. Then tweet it, Facebook it, share it across all your social networks so others know what is going on.
